Put on Earth to ride bikes, we are a family-owned and operated small business on the sunny Eastern Shore in Bellerive, Tasmania. We have been selling and servicing bikes in Hobart for over 20 years and from small beginnings have evolved into one of Tasmania’s best independent bike shops.
Ride Bellerive is a community of bike nuts, we believe in the stuff we sell, and we look after our customers as if they were our mates (and they often are!). As your local bike shop, we’re here to help you with all your biking needs, big and small, and our strong after sales service and repair expertise will ensure you get the most out of your bike and riding experience. We are stockists of a great range of leading bike brands including Merida, Focus, Norco, Trek, and more. You will find these brands and more, in our bricks and mortar retail store at 96 Clarence Street in Bellerive.
Building a better riding community is what really makes us excited, and our awesome community is made up of riders of all levels and styles, a mix of commuters, gravel grinders, BMXers, roadies, electrified riders, and mountain bikers. Because MTB is one of our specialities, we are well positioned to work with you to ensure you have the right bike to take on any one of our world class mountain bike trails in Tasmania, our beautiful Island State, and beyond.
We will always give you the best advice and recommendations, and you never need to feel silly asking us a question as we believe there is no such thing as a silly question!
MEET THE TEAM
Adrian Van Loon
Ride Bellerive is the result of the Big Boss, Adrian Van Loon’s passion for bicycle retail, and he wouldn’t trade those grey hairs that come with running a bike business for anything. Adrian’s exceptional industry knowledge comes from a lifetime of living and breathing bikes. Adrian will always give you down to earth and frank advice, and for him, ensuring you get the right product for your riding needs every time is key.
Above all, community is everything, and Adrian is as proud as punch of the amazing community of cyclists that has grown with the business. Made up of riders of all bikes and abilities, from the casual commuter right through to the elite level athlete, it’s definitely not all about the lycra - though we are quite partial to that too.
These days his preferred rides are his Trek Fuel EXe 9.8 and Merida Silex+ 6000 gravel bike.
Anna Van Loon
Anna aka Mrs Ride has been working behind the scenes at Ride Bellerive for a while, but stepped into full time bike business following a career in government.
She is living her best life working at Ride Bellerive, happily immersed in bikes, and gets a buzz out of ensuring our customers have the best experience when shopping with us - whether in-store, over the phone, via email/socials etc. What Anna lacks in technical bike jargon, she makes up for with her positive and friendly demeanour, and will make you feel at ease when you come and visit us in-store.
Bike wise, Anna enjoys cruising local bike paths on her Trek Dual Sport 3 which runs like a dream.
Andrew Burford
Andrew likes riding his bike at any opportunity, and when he needs a break from two wheels, he likes to run ridiculously long distances because he can. He is one of the fittest people going around, which explains why competing solo in 24hr events seems like a very good idea to him.
His time in the saddle outside of shop hours converts to a truly rider-informed level of expertise that is second to none across our range of high specced bikes. He gets the intricate details and nuances of bikes, and will help you get the most out of your bike and riding experience.
His two favourite bikes in his current stable are his Cervelo Aspero in Seabreeze, and his mountain conquering red and black Norco Revolver FS120.
Jason Mennitz
Jason, our head mechanic, has a well earned reputation as one of Tasmania’s most effective bike mechanics, and he is an integral part of the Ride Bellerive fabric. In his career as a bike mechanic, Jason has seen it all and more, and as a result is very handy on the tools and coming up with out of the box solutions to tackle even the most curveball of jobs. Sightings of Jason are a bit like those of the Tasmanian Tiger these days, as he’s now based in our new workshop off-site, making mechanical magic happen. Jason lives our mantra “Eat, Sleep, Bikes, Repeat”, with a riding pedigree that is off the charts and a lost number of years in the saddle.
With more bikes that he has wearable jeans, Jason likes all of his bikes for different reasons, but if pushed for a favourite, it’s his Merida Ninety Six at number one.
Casuals
We have a great crew of casual team members who have some serious bike knowledge and bike skills between them. From school age to retired, our casuals have got it covered across the lifespan and their passion for bikes is infectious.
